DALLAS (AP) - Dallas police say a homeowner has been charged in the shooting deaths of two women after the trio allegedly did drugs at his house.
Leonard Mornes of Dallas was being held Thursday on a capital murder charge.
Dallas police Wednesday night responded to reports of gunfire at a house. Police say the 60-year-old Mornes initially said he shot the women, whose bodies were in his home, after finding them burglarizing the place.
Police later determined the victims were shot after allegedly using crack cocaine with Mornes, he fell asleep and awoke to find the women still at his house.
Police identified one victim as 44-year-old Bridgitte Manning. The name of the other slain woman wasn’t immediately released.
Online jail records don’t list bond or an attorney to speak for Mornes.
