AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife is hosting its family field day event on Swan Island on Aug. 1.

The event will include fishing, archery, all-terrain vehicle driving, bird house building, paddling and other events. It is also a chance to explore the island, which is an abandoned 18th and 19th century town.

The event takes place at the Richmond island from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is a fee of $5 per person or $20 for a family. Ferry rides will be provided to and from Swan Island, which is accessible by boat.
