CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) - Police who responded to a reported burglary attempt found themselves in a brawl with a suspect before eventually arresting the man near Woodland Meadow Park.

The Gazette-Times reports (https://bit.ly/1HQujQy ) 37-year-old Michael Christopher Douglas pleaded guilty Wednesday to multiple charges connected to the Tuesday night incident.

Corvallis police officers say they had discovered Douglas lying on the ground with two pit bulls beside him. Lt. Cord Wood says the dogs growled at officers but didn’t attack them.

Douglas allegedly approached officers despite numerous warnings and started fighting their attempts to control him. Officers used Tasers, pepper spray and batons on Douglas, who allegedly punched officers and tackled one to the ground.

Douglas was eventually subdued and taken to a hospital. He was later booked into the Benton County jail.
