GROVELAND, Mass. (AP) - Police say a Massachusetts woman discovered a box of what appeared to be old dynamite in the garage of her home.

The Eagle Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1LTN6fo ) police were called to the Groveland home on Wednesday morning. Police photographed the contents of the box and members of the Massachusetts bomb squad viewed them from their offices.

Police determined that the items consisted of an old flare and audible devices that are placed on railroad tracks to explode and warn when trains were approaching.

The homeowner, Katherine Shaw, gave police permission to detonate the devices on her property.

Police say the low-intensity explosives were carefully prepared and successfully detonated.

No one was injured.
