RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - One of the recently born cheetah cubs at Metro Richmond Zoo has died.

Multiple news sources report the cheetah died Sunday, three days after its four-week checkup. The zoo made the announcement on its Facebook page, describing the loss as a complete shock. The cubs gained significant weight and were in great physical condition since being born in May.

The zoo says keepers noticed that the cub was isolated and not as active. She was removed from her enclosure and given fluids and antibiotics, but died less than an hour later.

The zoo says the cub that died was one of six born last month. The remaining five cubs were put on antibiotics beginning Sunday as a precaution.
