PEN ARGYL, Pa. (AP) - Police say an eastern Pennsylvania man was driving drunk when he hit two people last month, killing one and seriously injuring the other.

Eric Hauff was taken into custody Monday and charged with homicide by vehicle, drunken driving and related offenses. The 38-year-old is charged in the death of 26-year-old Jonathan Kennedy.

Authorities say Hauff’s blood alcohol content was 0.21 percent when his Chevrolet Malibu hit Kennedy and a 28-year-old woman on May 24 in Pen Argyl. That’s more than twice the legal limit.

Kennedy was pronounced dead the next day. The woman suffered a broken neck and leg fractures.

Hauff’s attorney declined to comment after his arraignment.

He was released after posting $50,000 bail. Hauff is due back in court for a preliminary hearing on June 29.
