LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) - Long Beach police say an officer wounded during a gunbattle with a suspect was shot by a fellow officer.
Officials said Tuesday that investigators determined that a bullet pulled out of the wounded officer came from a police weapon.
The officer’s injuries are not life-threatening.
Three officers exchanged fire with Eric Arroyo Sunday night at an apartment complex. Officials said Arroyo began shooting when police responded to reports of a man with a gun.
Investigators say ballistics tests show the 31-year-old shot at more than one officer.
Arroyo, who was also treated for a gunshot wound, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on a police officer.
