MILLSBORO, Del. (AP) - A church will pay $467,000 as part of a settlement in a lawsuit the family of a slain worker filed.

The News Journal of Wilmington (https://delonline.us/1dILYhO ) reports the body of Nicole Bennett was found in a ditch on Maryland’s Eastern Shore in June 2012, close to Bay Shore Community Church, where she provided day care to children.

Police arrested Bennett’s co-worker, 31-year-old Matthew Burton, a few weeks later and accused him of the killing. A pretrial hearing is set for June 8 and the trial is scheduled to begin in April.

A May 5 petition said the church has agreed to pay Nicole Bennett’s husband, Kevin, $392,000 and the couple’s three daughters, ages 14, 10 and 4, $25,000 each.
