FOREST CITY, Iowa (AP) - A 41-year-old woman has been charged with theft from a northern Iowa preschool and day care where she’d worked as its director.

Authorities say Brenda Steinman, of Northwood, is charged with theft, fraudulent use of a credit card and with records tampering. Online court records don’t list the name of an attorney who could be contacted to comment on Steinman’s behalf. Her next court appearance is scheduled for Monday.

Court documents say she used company credit cards for her personal expenses and took other funds from Lake Mills Community Preschool & Daycare on or after Jan. 12. The documents say she took nearly $7,400.
