BLYTHEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Blytheville police are investigating two recent killings in the city, along with four other shootings during the past week.

Two men died after shootings 11 hours apart on Monday, and officers were trying to determine whether the incidents were related. Potential witnesses aren’t talking, said police Capt. Scott Adams.

“That’s the biggest problem. We would know a whole lot more if we could get people to talk, but they just won’t,” Adams said.

After a shooting about 10 a.m. Monday, officers responded but found only the victim, who died at the Great River Medical Center.

“A witness described two subjects shooting at each other,” Police Chief Ross Thompson said.

Monday night, a man was shot in Williams Park and died at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee.

Three other shootings left four people injured last Thursday and Friday, and another man was shot Tuesday night during a dispute at an apartment complex.

“This was not a random act,” Adams said.

Adams said the men shot dead were unable to talk to officers before dying.
