EASTON, Pa. (AP) - Prosecutors say they will seek the death penalty against a man charged in a murder at an eastern Pennsylvania motel.

The Northampton County district attorney’s office announced the decision Wednesday at the formal arraignment of 25-year-old Jeffrey Knoble Jr. of Riegelsville.

Knoble is charged in the March 11 death of 32-year-old Andrew “Beep” White in the Quality Inn in Easton. Authorities have characterized White as a “good Samaritan” who rented a room for Knoble because he had no place to stay.

Prosecutors cited robbery and illegal firearm possession charges as justifying capital punishment in the case.

Knoble lashed out at the judge and others after the decision was announced, saying there was no way he would get a fair trial. Defense attorney Matthew Goodrich declined comment on his client’s statements.
