TULSA, Okla. (AP) - A Tulsa International Airport spokeswoman says its air traffic control tower is partially unstaffed after it was twice evacuated due to noxious fumes.
Spokeswoman Alexis Higgins said Thursday that no injuries were reported and no flights were canceled. She says there have been minimal delays to flights.
Higgins says some of staff evacuated the tower around 4:30 p.m. and 9:40 p.m. Wednesday. She says the fumes came from a solvent used to remove glue during retiling.
Higgins says a contractor inspected the air Thursday and deemed it safe. She says the Federal Aviation Administration and the air traffic controllers union will review the findings before the tower is fully reoccupied.
The airport is only operating one runway and has directed pilots to communicate on the radio until the staff returns.
