KILLDEER, N.D. (AP) - U.S. Rep. Kevin Cramer this week welcomed the North Dakota winner of a prestigious national art competition to the nation’s capital.

Emery Dobitz was selected as North Dakota’s winner of the 2015 Congressional Art Competition. Her acrylic painting depicting a buffalo will be on display at the U.S. Capitol for an entire year.

The Congressional Art Competition began in 1982. Each congressional district has one winner whose art gets to be displayed at the Capitol. Winners also receive a roundtrip ticket to Washington, D.C.

Cramer says this is a great opportunity for Dobitz to showcase her art at the national level. He says her piece will be seen by thousands of people over the next year.

Dobitz will be a senior this fall at Killdeer Public School.
