FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) - Police are investigating a gunfight between customers at a Fairbanks bar that sent two men to the hospital and left a bartender with shrapnel injuries.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports (https://bit.ly/1NnxzTz ) that police say the early Friday shooting involved two Fairbanks men armed with handguns.

Fairbanks Police Detective Scott Adams says one man tried to take a gun out of his waistband to threaten or shoot the other man, but the other person managed to fire first.

The man who initially reached for his gun was taken to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital and is expected to recover.

A bystander hit by a ricochet was flown to Anchorage for treatment. His condition wasn’t available Friday afternoon.

The bartender injured by shrapnel was treated at the scene.
