SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) - Workers are closing a lane on Interstate 85 north near Spartanburg for emergency repairs after a concrete slab fell apart.
The South Carolina Department of Transportation said the problems are happening near where the north end of Business 85 meets I-85. Crews were already working at night to repair the concrete on the three-lane highway.
The DOT says it has asked the contractor to finish the project as quickly as possible. Data from DOT indicates about 85,000 vehicles pass through the area on an average day.
