DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (AP) - A suburban Philadelphia man has been convicted of first-degree murder in the death of a pregnant woman and her young daughter.

The Philadelphia Inquirer (https://bit.ly/1MmQEoX ) reports that jurors in Bucks County convicted 22-year-old Marcel Johnson of Bristol Township of first-degree murder Wednesday in the deaths of 22-year-old Ebony Talley and 4-year-old R’Mani Rankins in November 2013.

Johnson was convicted of third-degree murder in the death of Talley’s unborn child as well as arson in the fire in the Levittown apartment that authorities was set to destroy evidence.

Prosecutors said Johnson committed the murders because he wanted the woman’s drug business. Johnson’s defense attorney attacked the credibility of a prosecution witness.

Jurors will now hear arguments on whether Johnson should be executed or serve life in prison without parole.
