CLEVELAND (AP) - The mother of a boy who was fatally shot by a Cleveland police officer while holding a pellet gun has hired her third set of lawyers to represent her and her family in a federal lawsuit against the city of Cleveland and two patrolmen.
Samaria Rice’s latest legal team consists of a local civil rights attorney and a firm from New York City. Samaria Rice is the mother of 12-year-old Tamir Rice, who was fatally shot Nov. 22 by a rookie patrolman within two seconds of a police cruiser skidding to a stop near the boy.
The lawsuit was originally filed Dec. 5 by Samaria Rice’s first set of attorneys. She said in a court document filed Monday that her relationship with her second set of attorneys is “non-existent.”
