CANON CITY, Colo. (AP) - Canon City police are investigating after a 44-year-old woman fell about 400 feet to her death at the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park in southern Colorado.

Investigators say the woman, whose name has not been released, was last seen alive at an observation point on the north side of the Royal Gorge on Monday evening. Officers searched the area but had to stop because of nightfall.

The woman’s body was recovered from a cliff face below the observation point Tuesday morning. Investigators say the fall appears to be accidental.
