BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) - Bridgeport police are trying to identify a woman whose body was found in Long Island Sound.

City spokesman Tim Hammell tells the Connecticut Post (https://bit.ly/1IeEi0L ) that a boater discovered the body about 5 miles south of Bridgeport Harbor.

The Bridgeport Police Marine Unit pulled the woman from the water at about 5 p.m. Wednesday. She was pronounced dead at the scene.



Police say she appears to have been in her 20s or 30s and was 5-foot-3 with dark hair. She was wearing a gray and black striped sweatshirt and black stretch pants.

Police say they have no reports of any accidents in the area or anyone reported missing on the water.
