Teenager shot in northern Alabama town of Leighton

LEIGHTON, Ala. (AP) - Authorities are investigating the shooting of a teenager in the northern Alabama town of Leighton.

Colbert County sheriff’s officials tell WHNT-TV (https://bit.ly/1ALRWZo) that the shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday. Officials said they didn’t immediately know the extent of the teenager’s injuries. They said the victim was flown by helicopter to a hospital.

Sheriff’s officials say they took one person in custody. Details about that person weren’t immediately available.

Leighton is about 10 miles southeast of Muscle Shoals.
