Late-night talk show host Bill Maher told the “pronoun police” to ease up on people who mistakenly call Caitlyn Jenner, formerly known as the olympic athlete Bruce Jenner, “he” because the change will “take some getting used to.”

“You know what pronoun police if you’re going to climb up my [expletive], while you’re up there you can kiss it because it’s gonna take a minute to get used to,” Mr. Maher said Friday on his HBO show “Real Time,” Mediaite reported.

Mr. Maher also pointed out that the media coverage of Ms. Jenner’s public transition into a woman may be a little over the top.

“If she makes people accept people who are different, great then she’s done a great thing. But let’s not forget that this is a has-been from reality TV who got breast implants,” Mr. Maher said, Mediaite reported. “This is someone who used to be Kim Kardashian’s step-father now she’s Kim Kardashian’s step-mother, she’s not Rosa Parks.”

But Mr. Maher did say that he was happy for Ms. Jenner, who has now received a contract with MAC Cosmetics.

“I think this is going to be very good for MAC Cosmetics. I’m going to buy stock in MAC Cosmetics. ‘Can it conceal my crows feet?’ Lady this [expletive] made a 65-year-old former dude look like Brooke Shields,” Mr. Maher joked, Mediaite reported.
