TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Tucson police say a female suspect suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries after she was shot by an officer.

Authorities say officers were called to a business on West St. Mary’s Road around 9 p.m. Saturday over reports of a woman behaving suspiciously.

A responding officer located her and a confrontation followed outside the nearby business.

That is when the officer fired at the woman, striking her.

Police say officers dispatched first aid until Tucson firefighters arrived.

She was taken to a hospital to receive treatment for her injuries.

The officer was not hurt.

Police say investigators are conducting a criminal and internal affairs investigation.
