The man convicted of killing former Navy SEAL Chris Kyle and fellow veteran Chad Littlefield has been moved to a psychiatric prison.
Eddie Ray Routh will be evaluated at a a prison with a wider array of medical facilities instead of the Abilene location where he began a life sentence without parole, The Associated Press reported Thursday.
The Texas Department of Criminal Justice said it has not be determined what facility Routh will ultimately reside in.
Last month, a Texas jury convicted Routh, an Marine veteran, of capital murder for the Feb. 2, 2013, deaths of “American Sniper” Kyle and Littlefield as they attempted to help him deal with PTSD. The men were ambushed from behind at a Texas gun range. The jury rejected Routh’s legal team’s insanity defense.
