PROVO, Utah (AP) - A judge says a blood draw that allegedly detected methamphetamine can be used as evidence against a Utah teenager charged with murder in the death of a sheriff’s deputy.

Provo Judge Darold McDade ruled Friday that the routine test on 18-year-old Meagan Grunwald is legal even though she didn’t explicitly agree to it.

She faces a dozen charges, including murder and drug possession.

The Daily Herald newspaper of Provo reports (https://bit.ly/1BCVU3s ) she is scheduled to go on trial next month.

Prosecutors say her 27-year-old boyfriend, Angel Garcia-Juaregui, shot and killed Utah County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Cory Wride, but they say the teenager drove the couple and participated.

Grunwald says her boyfriend forced her at gunpoint to participate in the crime spree.

Garcia-Juaregui died after a shootout with police.
