JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (AP) - Police and the district attorney are asking for the public’s help after a 30-year-old woman was found dead in her western Pennsylvania home.
Cambria County District Attorney Kelly Callihan says authorities are looking for a suspect and a motive in the shooting of Carol Ashcom.
The woman’s body was found about 11 a.m. Wednesday in Lower Yoder Township. That’s near Johnstown, about 60 miles east of Pittsburgh.
West Hills Regional police say one of the woman’s two children, a 7-year-old boy, was home when she was killed. Her body was discovered by her ex-husband.
Callihan says the boy is now in a safe environment.
Police don’t believe robbery was a motive. Neighbors have told authorities and Johnstown-area media outlets that people visited the woman’s home at odd hours.
