Woman gets 6 years in prison for child abuse

THIBODAUX, La. (AP) - A 28-year-old Raceland woman will spend five years in prison for the 2014 abuse of three young children.

The Daily Comet reports (https://bit.ly/19gqXZG) Brandy Triche (trish) pleaded guilty Thursday in state District Judge Steve Miller’s courtroom in Thibodaux to three counts of cruelty to juveniles. He handed down three five-year sentences, which will run concurrently.

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office booked Triche July 16 with four counts of cruelty. However, a grand jury later indicted her on three counts.

Triche’s boyfriend at the time of the incidents, 30-year-old Christopher Gaudet (GOH’-day), is accused of sexually assaulting three of the children, then ages 3, 7 and 9. His aggravated rape trial is set for April 27 in Miller’s courtroom.
