LONDON (AP) - Cambridge will have the heavier men’s and women’s crews for the Boat Races against Oxford next month.
The men’s Light Blues of Cambridge weighed in Thursday at a total of 727.8 kilograms (1,604.5 pounds) excluding the cox, with an average weight of 90.08 kg (198.5 pounds) per oarsman.
The Dark Blues of Oxford weighed a total of 685.8 kg (1,511.9 pounds), or an average of 85.73 kg (188.9 pounds) per man.
The Cambridge women’s crew weighed a total of 581 kg (1,280.8 pounds), an average of 72.63 kg (160.1 pounds). The Oxford crew weighed 573.8 kg (1,264.9 pounds), an average of 71.72 kg (158.1 pounds).
The Boat Races will take place on the River Thames on April 11. It’s the first time the women’s race is being held on the same day as the men’s.
