LA PLATA, Md. (AP) - A man in prison for an unrelated crime has been indicted in the 2011 death of a Landover woman whose remains were found months after her mother reported her missing.
Charles County Sheriff Troy D. Berry said at a news conference Thursday that 22-year-old Raymond Daniel Posey III of Nanjemoy was indicted last month on a first-degree murder charge in the death of 29-year-old Crystal Keyona Anderson of Landover.
Anderson was reported missing by her mother in August 2011. Her remains were found in January 2012 in wooded area near Purse State Park in Charles County.
Berry says more than three years of investigating led authorities to Posey.
Posey is serving a sentence at Eastern Correctional Institution in Westover for an unrelated armed robbery.
