JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - Alaska’s transportation department plans to redirect to other projects about $150 million in federal money previously assigned to the Knik Arm crossing and Juneau access road.

Jeff Ottesen, the department’s director of program development, said the money wasn’t specifically earmarked for Knik Arm and Juneau access projects.

He said it’s not uncommon for a portion of the federal transportation money received by the state to be redirected every year due to project delays or other issues.

The Knik Arm crossing and project to extend a road from Juneau were among those for which Gov. Bill Walker halted new, unobligated spending pending a review on how or whether to proceed with them.

Ottesen said there’s ample money available to complete the environmental review for the Juneau project, if Walker opts for that.
