HENRICO, Va. (AP) - A dog that fell into a frozen pond has been rescued by Henrico County firefighters.
Henrico Fire tells media outlets that the dog fell through the ice after wandering onto the pond on Monday morning. The dog was in a hole in the ice about 15 feet from the edge when firefighters arrived.
The dog was able to keep its head above water but couldn’t climb onto the ice.
Firefighters couldn’t reach the dog with poles. They found a boat on the pond’s edge and used it to rescue the dog.
The dog was taken to the shore, dried off and returned it to its owner.
