TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - Motorists in New Jersey will need extra time to thaw out their vehicles after a winter storm left a mix of snow and ice across the region.

Dozens of schools statewide have delayed opening.

New Jersey Transit is cross honoring bus and rail tickets.

Road crews are clearing and treating the major highways. But motorists will find slick driving conditions where temperatures remain below freezing.

Temperatures are starting to rise following a wintry mix of snow, sleet, freezing rain and rain that started falling across the state Sunday.

More than 3 inches of snow fell in the state’s northern counties. Up to a quarter-inch of ice accumulated in central and southern Jersey.
