SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - The National Weather Service says this winter was the warmest and least snowy on record in Salt Lake CIty.
Meteorologists said Sunday the season that starts in December and officially ended in February was the warmest since record-keeping began in 1874. It also had the lowest snowfall since tracking started in 1885.
The season wasn’t the driest, however, since the area did see rain this winter.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1B28itj) the warm temperatures cause concern among wildlife biologists who say the warm weather could draw animals out of their dens too early and fire authorities who say it could contribute to a more serious wildfire season.
