INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - A judge has approved the transfer of a man charged with the murder of an Indianapolis police officer to a state prison to isolate him from a minister.

WTHR-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1GzqaNC ) the court-appointed attorneys for Major Davis Jr. requested his transfer while he awaits trial because the minister has interrupted their visits with the defendant, compromising the confidentiality of those meetings. A Marion County judge approved the transfer Thursday.

Court documents also accused the unidentified minister of obstruction of justice. They say he claims to have information that can help Davis’s case but refuses to give it to defense attorneys unless he’s paid for it or hired as an investigator.

Davis could face the death penalty if convicted in the July 5 shooting of Officer Perry Renn during a shootout.
