GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - A former Hancock Bank employee in Gulfport is scheduled for sentencing this month on a federal charge of embezzlement.

Doris Ruth Triplett pleaded guilty in December to using her position to access customer accounts and steal $27,150. The money was taken between October 2012 and August 2013.

Triplett is free on a $25,000 unsecured bond.



The maximum penalty for embezzlement is 30 years in prison, five years of post-release supervision and a $1 million fine.

The Sun Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1BEAboe) U.S. District Judge Sul Ozerdent will be sentence Triplett on March 26.
