LAUREL, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police are investigating a car wreck that claimed the life of a 17-year-old and left several other teens injured.

Police say the crash occurred around 4:30 a.m. on Saturday. Police say a 17-year-old boy was driving westbound on Old Sharptown Road in Laurel when he lost control of the car and struck a utility pole. Police say a 17-year-old girl in the backseat of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say the driver, who was wearing a seatbelt at the time, was uninjured.

Police say a 15-year-old and three 16-year-olds who were also in the car at the time of the wreck were taken to area hospitals where they were treated for minor injuries.
