ROME, N.Y. (AP) - A 47-year-old central New York man is on trial for second-degree murder for the fatal stabbing of his estranged wife.
Christopher Werenski of Rome is charged with killing 45-year-old Carrie Pritchard last July, three days after he was ordered to pay a $200 fine for violating an order of protection filed against him.
The Utica Observer-Dispatch reports (https://bit.ly/1FQieZT ) that Werenski’s trial begins Monday in Oneida County Court.
The newspaper reports that Werenski told police he felt “out of body” when he repeatedly stabbed Pritchard outside her new apartment following a heated argument about text messages. He told police he didn’t know why he got the knife from his truck and stabbed her.
