GARRETTSVILLE, Ohio (AP) - Officials and residents of a northeastern Ohio village say they’re still trying to rebuild after a downtown fire destroyed several buildings a year ago.

Garrettsville Mayor Rick Patrick tells WEWS-TV (https://bit.ly/1CgLzvF ) that the fire that swept through the village in Portage County last March caused an estimated $5 million in damage. The village is still working to restore water and utilities to one of the remaining buildings at the fire site, but Patrick says businesses could occupy the area again within the next few months.

The fire impacted 13 businesses and leveled several historic buildings. More than 130 firefighters from 34 agencies battled the blaze in the village of about 2,200 residents.

Investigators with the state fire marshal’s office said they couldn’t pinpoint the exact cause of the fire.
