WILMERDING, Pa. (AP) - The American Red Cross was helping dozens of people left homeless when a water leak damaged the electrical system of a 25-unit apartment building near Pittsburgh.
Sunday morning’s leak caused the power to be shut off in the building in Wilmerding, about 10 miles east of the city. It was not immediately clear Monday when power may be restored and the residents allowed to return.
Tenant Denise Rivers says the sound of the leaking water made her think it was raining outside when she woke up Sunday.
Instead, River got up and found it “raining” in her living room.
The Red Cross has set up a shelter at the nearby Pitcairn Fire Hall and some residents have been bused to a hotel.
