POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) - A 35-year-old man has been found guilty of fatally shooting a woman inside a Hudson Valley grocery store in the summer of 2013.

The Poughkeepsie Journal reports (https://pojonews.co/1bx18Fi ) that a jury in Dutchess County deliberated for about five hours before finding Lakime Spratley of Poughkeepsie guilty Tuesday of second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

He was charged with shooting and killing Talesha Wright inside the A&M; Grocery in Poughkeepsie in July 2013.

Spratley claimed he was mentally ill at the time of the shooting and couldn’t tell right from wrong. His criminal record includes felony convictions for robbery and assault.

Spratley faces up to 25 years to life in prison for the murder when he’s sentenced April 22, plus up to 15 years for the weapon possession conviction.
