MANDAN, N.D. (AP) - The Mandan City Commission has approved ballot language for a June 9 public vote on whether to increase taxes to fund a sports complex.

Residents will decide whether to support a three-fourths percent sales tax to fund the $22 million Park District project that would include a two-rink hockey arena, gymnastics facilities, and a football and track field. The existing football and track field would be converted into ball fields.

Supporters say the project would benefit children and bring more money to the city. Opponents say a sales tax increase would hurt Mandan businesses.
