CHICAGO (AP) - A northeastern Illinois woman has died after being seriously injured in a car crash last week.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office says 37-year-old Robin Hughes of Monee Township died at a Chicago hospital on Tuesday night.

An autopsy conducted Wednesday determined she died from multiple injuries sustained in the March 18 wreck near her home.

Will County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer says Hughes lost control of her vehicle, left the roadway and struck a culvert. She says the vehicle went airborne, rolled several times and came to a rest on its roof.

Hoffmeyer says Hughes, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, was trapped in the vehicle and had to be removed by firefighters.

She was airlifted to Stroger Hospital, where she later died.
