RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - If you didn’t know it by the traffic, the U.S. Census Bureau confirms that Raleigh is one of the fastest-growing areas in the nation.

Figures released by the Census Bureau on Thursday show that Raleigh has made the list of the 20 fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the country.

The figures show that from July of 2013 until July of last year, the population of the Raleigh area grew 2.3 percent. Southeastern North Carolina near the South Carolina line also made the list.

The South Carolina coast remains one of the fastest-growing areas with three communities - Myrtle Beach, Charleston and Hilton Head making the list.

The Myrtle Beach metropolitan area - which extends into southeastern North Carolina, experienced 3.2 percent growth - the second-fastest growth rate in the nation.
