RENO, Nev. (AP) - KRNV reports (https://bit.ly/1BOYNup ) that a Reno woman who fled a hit-and-run that cost a man his leg is guilty of a felony and has been sentenced to five years probation.

Myree Townsend appeared in the Washoe District Court Thursday morning and was ordered to pay more than $946,000 in installments. The station reports the felony will remain on Townsend’s record after the court denied a request for diversion.

Townsend turned herself into Washoe County police in May, nearly two weeks after she hit 25-year-old Gabriel Kennedy with her car.

Townsend also faces 500 hours of community service that could involve speaking to the public about her case and how she turned herself in.

She is also required to enroll in mental health counseling at mental health court.
