SAGINAW TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Another Michigan police department is getting body cameras.

The Saginaw News reports (https://bit.ly/1xk5g5r ) officers with Saginaw Township will soon be getting the equipment.

Chief Donald Pussehl Jr. says the department has eight in-car camera systems that are being replaced. The company that manufactures them offered free body cameras and microphones with the purchase of the in-car systems.

The total cost is about $25,000. Pussehl says the eight cameras will be enough so that every officer and sergeant on duty will have one.

This week, Bay City said its police officers were getting body cameras as part of a pilot program. A number of other Michigan departments are adding body cameras or considering the equipment.
