PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say a semi-truck on fire has shut down a stretch of Loop 202 in central Phoenix and it’s preventing drivers from reaching other freeways.
The Arizona Department of Transportation says the semi was involved in a crash Saturday afternoon in the westbound lanes of Loop 202 near 24th Street.
ADOT says the crash and subsequent fire occurred just before the “mini-stack” interchange.
As a result, motorists will not be able to get to the Interstate 10 or State Route 51.
Drivers should expect delays and consider using alternate routes such as I-10 westbound.
Officials have no estimate on when the westbound lanes will reopen.
Eastbound traffic on Loop 202 is proceeding as usual.
