ATLANTA (AP) - Atlanta City Council members want people to use the full name of the world’s busiest airport.

The council approved a resolution Monday asking the general manager of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport to determine why the name “Jackson” is often dropped.

The resolution was approved by a 14-0 vote.

Councilmember Felicia Moore says the 2004 addition is intended to honor former Atlanta Mayor Maynard Jackson. She says people tend to drop the “Jackson” portion of the name and the former mayor deserves to be remembered.

Moore’s resolution asks the airport’s general manager to report back by June.
