Police: Fleeing man allegedly threw child to ground

SLIDELL, La. (AP) - Police in Slidell say a 24-year-old man tossed his 17-month-old daughter to the ground as he ran away from officers.

Lamar Causey was booked into the Slidell City Jail on theft, cruelty to juveniles, drug possession and other charges.

Police said they were called to a business Sunday afternoon about an alleged theft.

As officers approached Causey, he allegedly tossed his 17-month-old to the ground without warning and ran.
