ST. CHARLES, Mo. (AP) - A St. Louis-area woman who tried to disarm a police officer trying to arrest her has been ordered to spend seven years in prison for resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (https://bit.ly/1M3ZEj5) reports 30-year-old Desiree Freshwater was sentenced Monday in St. Charles County, west of St. Louis.
She pleaded guilty in December to the resisting arrest and assault charges, as well as no contest to felony counts of assaulting a law enforcement officer and attempting to disarm a police officer. With the no-contest pleas, she did not admit guilt but conceded prosecutors had enough evidence for a conviction.
The charges relate to a June 2013 encounter with St. Charles police at a home where she allegedly tried to remove an officer’s gun from his holster.
