EDGEWOOD, Md. (AP) - Fire officials say a Harford County woman and her four children were injured after they jumped from the third floor of a townhouse to escape a fire.

Firefighters were called to the home on Eloise Lane in Edgewood early Friday. The Maryland State Fire Marshal was says a neighbor helped catch three of the children who jumped from a front window. The fourth child jumped from a back window.

The children, ranging in age from 4 to 12, were taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital’s pediatric trauma center and released. Their mother was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and is expected to be released Friday.

Investigators say the fire started in the basement laundry room and no working smoke alarms were found. The cause is under investigation.
