RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Two people face charges of stealing commemorative signs from Capitol Square during a Civil War sesquicentennial event.

Capitol Police say in a news release that 63-year-old Kenneth W. Proctor and 54-year-old Jeanne E. Proctor, both of Ruther Glen, are each charged with misdemeanor petit larceny.

They are accused of taking two commemorative signs on April 4 during the “Future of Richmond’s Past” event. The signs displayed reproductions of antique photos.

Capitol Police say the suspects are scheduled to appear in Richmond General District Court on May 29.
